Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present the young gang members' own stories about their everyday lives in gangs in a Danish context. The article is based on a recently completed research project which served to involve gang members' perspectives on life in gangs, and the opportunities to move away from the gang life again. The empirical findings of this study help to identify a number of implications to prevent young people from joining gangs, and their ability to get out of the gangs again. The empirical findings also contribute to putting Denmark on the world map in relation to developing research-based knowledge within this area.
