Abstract
The article focuses on high-resolution MAS NMR, using different spin nuclei to obtain structural and quantitative information about minor elements incorporated in the principal phases. High-resolution magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR of dry, powdered samples generally utilizes the reflection of the local electronic structure in the isotropic chemical shift to provide quantitative and structural information about the environments for spins such as Si and Ai in the anhydrous and hydrated phases of Portland cements. The present solid-state NMR spectra have been obtained using magic-angle spinning (MAS) and static magnetic fields of either 7.05, 9.39 or 14.09 Tesla, corresponding to H resonance frequencies of 300, 400 and 600 MHz, respectively.
