Abstract

To understand sexual defamation in the Icelandic sagas more comprehensively, this article surveys the paranormal attributes attached to Gudmundr inn ríki in Ljósvetninga saga and how they are used to "throw shade" on his character. One's very humanness can be called into question through association with the paranormal.
