    Abstract

A novel tri-band antenna design for wireless sensor network devices in home automation applications is proposed. The design is based on a combination of a conventional monopole wire antenna and discrete distributed load impedances. The load impedances are employed to ensure the degrees of freedom necessary to obtain a simultaneous optimization of input impedance and current distribution on the antenna structure. A transmission line model is presented together with 3D finite-element simulation results and measurements on the physical antenna.
