SUBMERGED PERFUSION BIOREACTOR: Biological device for, e.g. cell culturing, has body delimited by rim comprising recessed portion that is cavity in rim of body, and wall delimiting recessed portion comprising outlet orifice allowing liquid medium to flow out of body
NOVELTY - A biological device comprises a body (1) delimited by a rim (7) comprising recessed portion(s) that is a cavity in the rim of the body, and a first wall delimiting the recessed portion along the cavity. The recessed portion(s) comprise a first outlet orifice allowing the liquid medium to flow out of the body.
USE - A biological device for cell culturing, enzymatic reactions or filtering of fluid (claimed).
ADVANTAGE - The device has simple setup without the need of external pumping mechanisms to obtain a perfusion flow system.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A biological device comprises a body (1) delimited by a rim (7), and having a first and a second surface defining a body thickness; an aperture (3) in the center of the body, and is covered at the first and second surface by a first and second plate comprising an inlet orifice allowing liquid medium into the aperture; mechanism for rotating arranged in the aperture between the first and second plate; and outlet channel(s) connecting the aperture with the recessed portion. The rim comprises recessed portion(s) that is a cavity in the rim of the body, and a first wall delimiting the recessed portion along the cavity. The recessed portion(s) comprise a first outlet orifice allowing the liquid medium to flow out of the body. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method of using a device for biological purposes.
