Reading toward multiliteracies: understanding reading comprehension and reading experience

Research output: Contribution to book/anthology/report/proceedingBook chapterResearchpeer-review

Abstract

The chapter discusses concepts of literacies and multiliteracies in dialog with research on reading as mainly cognitive aspects of decoding and comprehending texts. The concept of reading that we explore and outline deals with digital literacy in pushing interest in the direction of reading experience and, in continuation hereof, a more sensory approach to the concept of literacy. In this chapter, we outline a development from research on reading toward multimodality and multiliteracies and, in continuation hereof, a proposed sensory digital literacy that intonates a renegotiation of cultural values related to reading.
