Abstract

In this article we share the process of creating and validating an observation and evaluation guide for artistic workshops with migrant participants who are living with vulnerability (or: are living under conditions of vulnerability) within the framework of the TransMigrARTS project. In the academic literature there is no observation guide for artistic workshops that explains how the experience with the arts, based on a research-creation methodology, contributes to strengthening resilience, empathy, self-confidence, etc. both participants and workshops’ organizers and observers. This guide thus represents an innovation in both focus and scope while also hoping to open up new ways of assessing the effects of the arts on migrants using tools from the arts themselves. Both the creation and the scientific validation of this TransMigrARTS guide were carried out during a research stay in Granada (Spain), in January 2022, where a group of fifty artists and researchers from the project worked in a transdisciplinary, constructivist and collaborative way.
