INVESTIGATING MANUFACTURING COMPANIES VALUE CO-CREATION APPROACHES DURING SERVITIZATION

Despite the increased use and interest of digital technologies in manufacturing companies’ pursuit of servitization in creating new service offerings, little is known about how value co-creation is approached across business boundaries. Using the value co-creation lens, we look into how manufacturing companies co-create value with their customers and other network partners. Drawing on qualitative data on 43 case companies, the findings of this study reveal five value co-creation approaches: awareness, experiment, platform, process, and accelerate. Theoretically, we contribute to servitization literature by conceptualizing different value co-creation approaches and its underlying mechanisms that companies practices during servitization.
