Abstract

The entry starts by introducing main characteristics of interpretive cross-cultural management (CCM) in comparison to the broader CCM literature. This includes drawing on a conceptualization of culture that allows for exploring subjective experiences, sense-making in interactions and the interplay of multiple cultures. Next, the entry illustrates some of the contributions of interpretive CCM and addresses the differing positions towards the concept of culture that one can distinguish within literature. Subsequently, the entry attends to some of the criticisms that have been raised to interpretive CCM from other paradigmatic standpoints in CCM. This leads, finally, to identifying potential ways forward for interpretive CCM.
