Taking her outset in the everyday practice of sharing photos on social media, Lone Koefoed Hansen analyses the online visual project “Tracking Transience” by American media artist Hasan Elahi. Relating it to French artist Sophie Calle’s performative artwork “The Shadow (Detective)” as well as the popular iPhone app “Instragram”, the essay argues that Elahi’s project can be understood as a comment on the idea (and misconception) that the mobile’s camera will help us remember better and more.
