Abstract
Edited by Jussi Parikka and Daphne Dragona, the publication 'Words of Weather: A Glossary' complements the art exhibition 'Weather Engines' with entries by academics, artists, philosophers and architects. My entry 'Extremes' in the volume relates to the impact and experience of extreme weather events. It draws upon my own bodily experience of being subjected to the forces of a mild tornado to reflect upon the scale of damage that extreme weather can wreak under accelerating conditions of climate change.
