In this article it is explored how a deliberate awareness of the aesthetic experience of children’s drawings can contribute to analysis and knowl¬edge about drawings as articulations of moments in emerging processes of becoming a person. As an alternative to a search for standardized pro¬cedures of analysis, the suggested approach changes between assuming an open experiencing attitude towards the drawing as an aesthetic object, and assuming a reflexive attitude to associations and potential representations in the drawing. The model is based on Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s Body- Phenomenology and Mikel Dufrenne’s concept of the aesthetic object. An example of analysis is presented followed by the model of analysis. It can include essential research-based knowledge about children’s drawings, and four important ‘waves’ in research interests and knowledge is introduced. The model of analysis can bring research-based knowledge and the re¬searcher’s deliberate open awareness of sensory and aesthetic experiences of drawing’s into the reflexive processes of analysis in order to create nuanced knowledge about how moments in children’s becoming can be articulated in their drawings.
