Augmenting proximities theory: Including other proximities in the transnational travel of Danish television drama

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperResearchpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter aims to elaborate on and develop well-established theories of proximities that are conventionally used to account for the distribution and reception of audio-visual content produced in one national or cultural context to another. Taking its point of departure in the work of Joseph Straubhaar (2007) and other scholars who have enhanced theories of proximities in relation to the transnational flows and reception of audiovisual content, this chapter considers the significant stimuli of three other types of proximities – emotional, cosmopolitan and grapevine proximities – that have influenced the transnational travel of Danish television drama series.
