Abstract

Nowadays, crucial orthodontic knowledge is scattered and hidden in raw data. Without the aid of Artificial Intelligence (AI) we are not capable of connecting evidence hidden in complex, high dimension, nonlinear dynamic data in order to derive logical and useful patterns. Artificial Intelligence is a branch of computer science; it involves the development of algorithms in adjunct to computer programs which can learn and improve over time to perform tasks that normally require human level intelligence. Artificial Intelligence followed by Deep Learning might soon revolutionise orthodontics in all aspects of its workflow. Orthodontics with the aid of Artificial Intelligence is going through a paradigm shift towards ‘precision orthodontics’ concentrated on optimized, individualized treatments.
