This article is a report on the stages of the project History of _rt which, in the form of free pamphlets distributed in the entrance of art spaces and a website, investigates the construction of the official discourses of the History of Art in books commonly used in Brazilian universities. Using both quantitative and qualitative inquiry, the project represents an empirical case of data activism and institutional criticism, carried out in a collaborative way by a multidisciplinary team of researchers and artists. The text specifies the contributions of the key team members, the project methodology, main results, and reverberations. Considering that many of the discussions about the History of Art and its problems are still restricted to a few 24 groups, generally in academic postgraduate courses, this project sought to offer an analysis of the exclusionary scenario of the field, contributing to a debate with broader audiences that are not necessarily specialized.
