Project Details
Description
The project will promote commercialisation of grass protein through optimisation of key elements in the production and through production of high value products for strengthening of the production economy. The best varieties of grass and clover will be identified through screening, analysis of protein content and biogas value of the residual fibre fraction. Harvest methods, which will preserve protein content and quality will be developed. In addition, different shredding techniques will investigated. Tannins will be extracted from the grass material, to establish whether a tannin-containing feed additive having a reducing effect on intestinal worm infections can be developed. The Product environmental footprint (PEF) will be documented.
