Poor utilization of vitamin E during weaning is a crucial nutritional factor in poor immune system, as weaning calves are in a nutritional "no man's land" between milk and concentrate, where the absorption of the most used vitamin E form (all-rac-α-tocopheryl acetate) is at the lowest level after birth due to low activity of digestive enzymes in the intestine. The project aims to develop a vitamin E product that bridges the borderland between milk and concentrates and ensures high absorption of vitamin E from the intestine during the weaning period. Product development involves the formulation and manufacture of a feed product containing natural vitamin E in alcohol form stabilized in protective tasty matrix. The project is financed by GUDP.
