Description

Psychoeducation is a cornerstone in the treatment of multisystem functional somatic disorders (FSD). The purpose of psychoeducation is to establish shared illness understanding and facilitate shared decision- making regarding the patient’s needs in order to improve treatment outcomes. Due to the often chronic and persistent course and severe impairment caused by multisystem FSD, existential needs and perspectives such as loss, meaning, and acceptance may be important to address. Thus, a key aim of this study is to investigate the existential dimension in the treatment program for multisystem FSD in order to improve the patient education program planned to take place in the EDULOX trial.
