The Complex Web in Memetic Warfare. Societal Dynamics, Interactions and Impact

This interdisciplinary research project, developed in collaboration between Nottingham University (Tine Munk, PI) and Aarhus University, and seed funded by the British Academy, brings together scholars from the fields of cyber security, criminology, and language-based area studies to investigate memetic warfare in the digital era with a focus on the ongoing war in Ukraine. The research project aims at understanding the role of memes in digital warfare and analyzing the perception, reach, and impact of Ukrainian memetic warfare, using NAFO as a central case study. The project further investigates the motivations and mechanisms behind civilian engagement in memetic warfare, aiming to understand how and why individuals participate in this digital arena.
