Project: Research

Description

This project investigates the transfer history of the American children’s television program Sesame Street in 1970s Europe. Sesame Street was created by Children’s Television Workshop (CTW) in 1969 and marketed worldwide in the following decade. Using the programmes’ complex transfer to Europe as a prism, this project makes way for a truly transnational history of the diverse roles that broadcasters wanted television to play in children’s enculturation.
