Description

The rehabilitation research network SEVERIN was established in 2012 and brings together representatives from Danish research groups in the area of rehabilitation.

The overall purpose of the network is to stimulate new research and interdisciplinary research collaborations within the field of rehabilitation.
Functioning is SEVERIN's central focus and the ICF – international classification of functioning disability and health - is used as a biopsychosocial reference framework.

SEVERIN's priority work area for the 5-year period (2018-2022): Research agendas for main areas within rehabilitation.

Research in rehabilitation has traditionally focused primarily on bodily aspects and has had less focus on participation and context. Research topics are today primarily based on the assessment of the professionals, rarely on the patients' and relatives'.
SEVERIN will prepare a research agenda for research in rehabilitation based on two processes. The most important research questions will be prioritized on the basis of a systematic uncovering of the recognized uncertainties of citizens, relatives and professionals (PPI – patient public involvement). Each question will be examined through systematic reviews to uncover whether the question has been answered or not. Unanswered questions form the basis of the research agenda. The research agendas will be used both among research environments and funding sources.

SEVERIN holds two half-yearly day meetings. The meetings focus on exchange and collaboration around rehabilitation research.

In 2016, on the initiative of SEVERIN, Week 37 Rehabilitation Research Week was held in Aalborg, Aarhus, Odense and Copenhagen.

SEVERIN is deeply involved in the planning of the 24th Rehabilitation International World Congress 2021 and the annual rehabilitation conferences held under the auspices of the Rehabilitation Forum Denmark.
