Description

Project investigating semantic properties of non-arbitrary (motivated) form-meaning associations, cross-linguistically.

Layman's description

Why do some words just "sound" like what they mean? Languages tend to have areas of phonological (sound) and semantic (meaning) convergence. What characterizes these associations? How do we learn them? How do they influence language processing, acquisition, and evolution?
