The ultimate purpose of our research project is to make a (comparative) analysis of the laws and regulations governing privacy at work in the different EU countries and, on this basis, lay the groundwork for a European legal framework of privacy at work. The starting point is article 88 of the GDPR which suggests the elaboration of further implementation of data protection principles to the employment context, as well as the broadening influence of the (worker) privacy concept elaborated by the case law of the European Court on Human Rights (as we believe that a pure data protection approach would be too narrow).
