    Patient and relative’s transition and transfer (PRANSIT)
    Advancing nursing science is the key to providing nursing care, and transitions are central to the mission of nursing. Developing of transitions as a theoretical construct, leading to development of theories, models, and research, and thereby is an example of the microcosm of how to bring coherence to other central thoughts, concepts and propositions in nursing. Theoretical coherence leads to sound nursing science, which in turn leads to evidence-based practice (Meleis 2010: xv).
    A group of nurse researchers exploring patients’ and relatives’ experiences of transitions and transfer and professionals’ commitment with patient transitions and transfer.
    This research collaboration was established in 2009 by two participants (Lisbeth Uhrenfeldt, Liv Fegran) in a Nordic course on meta-synthesis as a method. In 2009-10 four other scientists (Elisabeth Hall, Hanne Aagaard, Gabriele Meyer and Mette Spliid Ludvigsen) were invited for the cooperation caused by their experience with meta-synthesis or special interest in the topic and method. These six persons constitute the core group. Additional scholars may act as associates.
    The primary mission is to contribute to societies and professions committed to patient and relative experiences of the transitions they experience in connection with hospitalisation. PRANSIT aims to contribute to the theoretical and methodological development in the clinical field of patient transitions, transfer, and nursing.
    Be a significantly contributing European group of scholars in research on transitions and transfer within health care for well-being and relief of patients and relatives. Create a base for new clinical research (funded).
    Strategic directions 2013-2018:
    The strategic direction presents a five year period (being the “Umbrella group” for our additional work about transition and transfer). A yearly mutual update of transition theories (which comprises a presentation, an invitation of a specialist or a paper is being analysed together). Disseminate knowledge through teaching or oral conference presentation.

    o Research that contributes to the development of theory and the concept of
    o Research on professional’s commitment with patients’ transitions and transfer.
    o Discussion papers
    o Investigate the applicability of various meta-study methods for the exploration
    of transitions and transfer.
    o Explore the potentials in meta-studies´ contribution to the development of
    complex intervention studies.
    Empirical studies
    o Direct or indirect data collection to answer research questions concerning
    transition and transfer
    o Publish meta-studies, i.e. mixed methods-mixed research synthesis.
    o Systematic reviews
