Project: Research
In order to address the international increased economic and social challenge of mental health conditions, efforts to improve the educational outcomes among students in the field of medicine, nursing, and psychology are pivotal. In the field of psychiatry education, the importance of patient-centered approaches to clinical encounters has been stressed as an important educational outcome to improve diagnostic reliability and treatment outcomes.
Sparse research suggests that virtual patients (VPs), that is, video-filmed simulations of the interpersonal meetings with patients in clinical practices, have the didactic potential to stimulate patient-centered learning in psychiatry education. Concurrently, more research is needed to build best practices for integrating patient-centered educational technologies into psychiatry education. While the specific focus of this research is on patient-centered educational technologies in relation to psychiatry education, our findings should be transferable to other patient groups.
PACET is a joint collaboration of researchers from the Centre for Educational Development, the Department for clinical Medicine and CON AMORE (Centre on Autobiographical Memory Research) at Aarhus University and the Department for Psychosis, Aarhus University Hospital.
The project intends to integrate research assistants, PhD students and post-doctoral researchers to the extent that funding can be obtained. You are most welcome to contact us if you have interest or a good idea within the scope of our research. This also applies to master student
