Description

Since 2007 this climate effect research program has been conducted in the low arctic Greenland at Kobbefjorden, Nuuk. The monitoring programme embrace continuous seasonal and inter-annual monitoring of most geophysical and biological ecosystem parameters. The monitoring of biological parameters include e.g. plant phenology, breeding phenology of birds, measurement of CO2-flux, effects of UVB on plant stress, determination of numbers and species composition of arthropods and microarthropods, and lake ecology. Geophysical parameters include snow, hydrology and a series of climatic parameters. The programme offer a unique possibility to analyse ecological responses to climate change on the background of consistently sampled climatic and physical parameters. The programme has a cabin with sleeping facilities and a small lab. Boat transfer to and from the monitoring area is provided by the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources three times a week during the field season.
