Description

The purpose of MuMiPro is to develop a new way of growing mussels, which at the same time deliver sustainable protein feed for organic livestock production, improve the marine environment in Danish coastal waters by mitigating eutrophication effects through harvest of mussels, and create jobs in areas outside major urban areas. The vision is that MuMiPro generates the necessary knowledge for a future production of up to 100,000 tonnes of mussels annually in long-line farming primarily intended for use as protein source in animal feed for organic pig and poultry production with positive contribution to food quality. MuMiPro is also the provider of ecosystem services to coastal aquatic environments as a tool for achieving good ecological status.
