Project Details

Description

The project aimed to develop a proof of concept system to visually clarify the status of a truck mounted crane. This was realized by placing LED strips strategic places on the crane, with each LED strip having their own controller. It was done with STM32F303 Discovery Kit and LED strips with LEDs of the type WS2812b. The project needed the microcontroller to communicate with a CAN bus using the CANopen protocol, and had to be configurable via the same bus, as the main controller on the crane should be able to configure the microcontroller for this project. Mosts tests were conducted in a simulated
environment, with a few tests being done by the company HMF Group A/S, who
cooperated in the making of this project. The various tests showed a few minor flaws, which has not been corrected as of the hand in of this report.
The project succeeded as a proof of concept, but was not fully developed to be shipped as a product. It has certain features missing, which would be beneficial if not crucial for it to be accepted as a product.
