• Genomic selection in small dairy cattle populations - exemplified by model development and simulation studies of Danish Jersey

The aim of the project is to develop genomic models to predict breeding values for traits of economic value in the breeding goal of a small cattle population. Introduction of foreign genetic material is taken into account. Deterministic simulation studies are used to optimize breeding plan parameters for a genomic breeding plan in a small dairy cattle population. Finally, the value of incorporating genotyped females with phenotypes in the reference population is investigated
