Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The aim of this project was to investigate the impact garbage chutes may have in source separation of household waste and in the general waste handling in apartment buildings. Moreover, the project also investigated the interplay between waste separation practices, the role of caretakers and the equipment and infrastructure of apartment building's waste handling.

Key findings

Volumes of separated waste seem to be the same in buildings with and buildings without garbage chutes, but there appear to be more misplaced waste in buildings with than in buildings without garbage chutes.
