The increasing demand for food, feed and bio resources is a major challenge for agriculture along with climate change. The future climate becomes more variable with higher frequency of heat waves and dry periods and generally more unstable and unpredictable. This emphasizes the need for agricultural crops with built-in stability to stress - or if you want more robust varieties that can withstand more stress types with less impact on yield.
The overall objective of the project is to understand the mechanisms for wheat adaptability on moderate stress in different development stages of Danish cultivated and future wheat varieties and the importance of the reduction in yield and to ensure information to wheat growers about relevant genetic markers
