Description
Auctoritas Economia explores the emergence of economic rationality in the Renaissance. Through an investigation of the concepts and practice of economic and political sciencia – in, for instance, monastery accounting books – the project seeks to explore the presence of a solid economic authority capable of challenging the authorities of religion and nature.
The main aim of the project will be to identify religious, natural philosophical and economic entrepreneurs in the Renaissance. This will lead to an investigation of the legitimisation process in relation to the relevant institutions and their competing arguments.
