Diving into the cattle hologenome by unveiling the Uncultured Microbiota in Cattle Rumen

The DMCR project has the potential of uncovering unknown microbiota in cattle rumen, which play a very important role in balancing food security and environmental impacts. Part of the cattle rumen microbiome keep uncovered due to some microbial species are difficult to culture in vitro. To fill the gap, the long read whole genome sequencing will be the best solution. I propose to use state-of-the-art technology ultra-deep sequencing to obtain the genome sequence of these unknown species. This project will open for more fundamental studies to better understanding of rumen microbiome.
