Description

Hydrothermal Liquefaction (HTL) is an alternative biofuel production process, in which biomass is converted into a crude bio-oil. The conversion takes place in a aqueous reaction environment at elevated temperatures and pressure, typical in the range of 250-400 degrees celsius and 100-300 bar. The HTL process is very robust in the sense, that it can accept a wide variety of different biomasses such as municipal, industrial and agricultural wastes. Hence, in addition to the production of valuable transportation fuels, HTL can also be use to minimize accumulation of waste.
