My research interest is the discovery of novel enzymes for the synthesis of chiral pharmaceuticals by screening microbial strains from natural source, cloning enzyme genes and protein engineering. I also focus on the structure-function analysis of industrial enzymes by solving their crystal structures and other biochemistry methods. My current project during the postdoc at AU is protein engineering of fatty acid hydratases for converting fatty acid into value-added hydroxy fatty acid using a green biocatalytic method.
