Research

In the PhD thesis "Literature Imagining Music", I analyse what fiction imagines about Western music as an art form and a cultural practice. Using a corpus of 20 novels published between 1990 and 2010, I work methodologically between close comparative readings and digital 'distant reading' (Text mining). The thesis has a postcritical and phenomenological framework and is based within the interdisciplinary and intermedial research field of Word and Music Studies. My contribution to the field consist primarily in the larger empirical and analytical scope along with an explicit dialogue with Cultural Musicology.
