Profile
I work with the development of analytical methods for indicators (markers) of production-related diseases in livestock. In recent years we have developed assays to detect early, subclinical conditions of particularly mastitis and ketosis in milk. We aim to continue with such markers as markers of fatty liver and rumen acidosis, and the general energy status of the animal. My main activities deal with laboratory work, including the development of chemical analyses for determination of metabolites and enzyme activities in biological (animal) matrices. The analysis involves mainly blood plasma, serum, urine and tissue homogenates, but in the recent years also milk. Analytical methods are mainly based on spectrophotometry and enzymatic-fluorometric determinations.
