My main interest is ruminant digestive physiology and feed evaluation. Focus is on nutrient metabolism in the digestive tract of ruminants, where the microbial fermentation in the rumen means that the absorption of nutrients from the digestive tract do not reflect the nutrient composition of the feed but is a complex function of both the feed its physical form and consequently an impact on the rumen environment. The aim is to improve feed utilization and consequently reduce leaching of environmental harmful substances. Further to implement new knowledge for the benefit of tropical animal production through participation in Danida financed projects in African countries.

Running research activities includes utilization of the production potential of dairy cows through optimization of both the starch degradation in the rumen and the capacity for starch digestion in the intestine. Mycotoxin in maize silage – metabolism in the dairy cow and excretion in products. Centre scientist at Knowledge Centre of Manure and Biomass Treatment Technology.
