Personal profile

Research

My research focuses on citizens’ political attitudes and behavior, especially on what creates political mistrust and polarization among the public. For several years, I've analyzed the effects of political communication and scandals and am now the research leader on the PEERPOL project, which investigates how mistrust and affective polarization arise and spread through social media and networks.

In addition, I do research on politicians’ and political parties’ behavior and primarily use statistical and experimental methodological approaches.

Teaching

I teach and supervise bachelor, master, and PhD students at the Department of Political Science and related programs in journalism and humanities. My teaching introduces students to the latest research in my field with an application-oriented focus on current societal issues. I teach and supervise, among other things, in Public Policy, General Political Science, and Methods (BA) and in political behavior, psychology, mistrust, and polarization (MA and PhD).
