Profile

I am an assistant professor at the Center for Music in the Brain. My research interests include rhythm perception and production, sensorimotor synchronization, social interaction in musical contexts, the experience of flow in musical activities, and the pleasurable urge to move to music, also known as the experience of groove. I have received an Erwin Schrödinger postdoctoral fellowship from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and a DOC doctoral fellowship from the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW).

I have studied Psychology at the University of Tübingen, Germany, and received my doctoral degree in Psychology from the University of Graz, Austria in 2017. My specialization in music perception and cognition started with an internship (2010) and a diploma thesis project (2011) in the Music Cognition and Action research group at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig, Germany.
