Steen Nielsen is Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and Business. He received his PhD in Management Accounting Research from Stockholm School of Economics, 1996. He obtained his M.Sc. (Cand.Merc.) from Aarhus School of Business (Aarhus University), 1984. His primary research interests are in management accounting, including activity-based costing, balanced scorecard, and the integration between management accounting and supply-chain-management. Steen Nielsen has taught a variety of accounting courses on e.g. modern management practices, balanced scorecard, profitability models, and classic management accounting theory. His research interests are centered on using analytical techniques and software, such as simulation, optimization, and system dynamics within management accounting topics (e.g. balanced scorecard). Steen Nielsen is also an experienced lecturer at the executive education level and served as academic programme coordinator for MSc in accounting and controlling from 1996 to 2008.
