Simon Calmar Andersen (PhD, Aarhus University, 2007) is Professor at the Department of Political Science and director of TrygFonden's Centre for Child Research at Aarhus University. His research (and teaching) examines different aspects of political institutions, and budgeting and management strategies and their impact on organizational performance, especially within education. He has published work in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Amereican Journal of Political Science, and the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, among others. He is member of the Research Advisory Boards for The Danish National Centre for Social Research (SFI) as well as for The Public Management Evidence Lab, City University of Hong Kong.
He was appointed member of the chairmanship of the national Council for Evaluation and Quality Assessment of Public School (The School Council) that gave advice to the Danish Minister of Children and Education in 2009-13. During his post doc. he also served as manager at the Municipality of Aarhus.

2017: 1.5 million DKK from Egmont Fonden. NEST evaluates interventions aimed at including students with special needs in ordinary class rooms. Co-P) with Helena Skyt Nielsen.

2016: 4.4 million DKK from TrygFonden. Project READ day care provides a home-environment intervention to support language development and development of personal skills (conscientiousness). PI.

2015: 3.0 million DKK from TrygFonden. READ Implementation tests the effectiveness of a national rollout of the evidence-based READ intervention. Co-PI with Ulrik Hvidman.

2015 : 9.3 million DKK from Ministry of Education. Well-being of Children in Primary Schools and Students at Technical Colleges (youth). PI.

2014: 6.4 million DKK from Ministry for Education. The Mother Tongue Teaching Program includes four trials and a total of 8 interventions (e.g. extra Danish lessons). Co-PI with Maria Humlum.
