Shahidul (Russell) Hassan joined the Department of Management in May 2021 as a Part-time Professor. He is affiliated for a two-year period.

Russell Hassan is Professor at John Glenn College of Public Affairs, Ohio State University, where he holds the Ambassador Milton A. and Roslyn Z. Wolf Chair in Public and International Affairs. His areas of expertise include leadership, public management, and organizational behavior. He has done extensive research on how leadership practices and perceptions about work environment shape work attitudes and behaviors of public sector employees. The second area of his research focuses on how social identity and relational differences shape experiences and career outcomes of underrepresented groups in public organizations. An emerging line of Professor Hassan’s research focuses on how job demands and resources shape work attitudes and behaviors of criminal justice actors.

His research has appeared in a wide range of outlets including the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Public Administration Review, Public Management Review, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, and Journal of Business Ethics.

Professor Hassan is currently a co-editor of the International Public Management Journal.

Professor Hassan earned his PhD from the State University of New York. He is affiliated with the Local Government Research Initiative at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Center for Organization Research and Design at the Arizona State University. He is a Visiting Professor in the School of Business and Social Sciences at Aarhus University (Denmark).
