Research areas
The main research area is ruminant nutrition, with focus on feed evaluation and productive performance.
Major areas have been
1) Fatty acid biohydrogenation and enrichment of dairy product with ω-3 fatty acid and bioactive fatty acids (CLA isomers)
2) In vitro methods for evaluation of feed value
3) Heat treatment as an approach to alter site of nutrient digestion in ruminants
4) Heat treatment for improving the fatty acid profile of dairy products
Main present research activities are:
1) Bioavailability of different forms of vitamin E
- Naturally or synthetic
- Alcohol or ester bound
2) Biodiscrimination of different stereoisomers of alpha-tocopherol
3) Optimising ω-3 and ω-6 fatty acids and CLA content in milk
4) Role of lipid fraction in biohydrogenation of polyunsaturated fatty acids
- Phospholipid, triglycerides and cholesterol esters
