Research

I am conducting research on dental-dedicated MRI and CBCT with particular focus on reducing (or even banning) ionizing radiation from diagnosis in dentistry.

Lately, my goal is to further develop dental-dedicated MRI, finding the evidence that supports the incorporation (or not) of this novel imaging modality in the dental clinic.

My research contributes to dentists being able to provide more accuarte diagnosis, and patients being treated in a safer manner.

Profile

As a Professor in Dentomaxillofacial Radiology and Imaging, I am interested in novel technologies for image-based diagnosis, their implementation, and how they can change the clinical routine of a dentist.

In my work, I am responsible for estabilishing dental-dedicated MRI as a new imaging modality, paving the way for a radiation-free diagnostic dentistry.

I have a degree in Dentistry, with  background also in computer science.

Job responsibilities

My primary area of ​​responsibility is teaching, doing research, and promoting new tallents in the field of dentomaxillofacial radiology and imaging. I also contribute to management tasks related to research and education, including large grant applications, partnerships with life-science industries, ethics committee and data-protection discussions, and radiation protection measurements.
