Profile

The main focus of my research is parent-child reminiscing, and the question of how the way parents reminisce with their children affects the development of children’s autobiographical memory.

More specifically, I am interested in how the gender of the parent and the level of involvement of parents respectively affects parental reminiscing style and children’s autobiographical memory.

Furthermore, an essential part of my research focuses on the emotion talk and on the emotional attunement between the parent and the child in the context of reminiscing.

In general, I am interested in how parents’ way of interacting and communicating affects the developmental outcomes of their children.

Research experience

PhD student at the Center on Autobiographical Memory Research Center, Psychological Department, Aarhus University
September - 2020 (ongoing)
I’ve conducted a study on parent-child joint reminiscing with 90 intact families (with both mothers and fathers) with children in the age range of four to five. I have had the main responsibility of the project management and coordination of the following components:
- Recruitment
- Data collection (N = 180 test sessions)
- Development of the Danish coding manual of parental reminiscing style
- Development of the Danish coding manual of emotion content coding
- Designing and collecting an on-line questionnaire on parental involvement level on Qualtrics
- Coordination, training, and supervision of student helpers on transcribing, and coding of the research material
- Coding of parental reminiscing style
- Coding of emotional content in the conversations
- Data analysis
- Manuscript writing

Additionally, I have been a part of a larger collaboration on children’s episodic future thinking with three age groups (2, 3, and 4-year-old children) with over 200 participants. I’ve had the main responsibility of the following:
- Recruitment of the oldest age group (4-year-olds)
- Data collection of the oldest age group (N = 90 test sessions)
- Development of the Danish coding manual of episodic future thinking in Danish children’s language
- Data analysis of all three age groups’ data
- Manuscript writing
