Personal profile
Research
My research focuses on rehabilitation, particularly on daily life and participation in work or education. I use quantitative research methods, aiming to identify and develop effective and coherent rehabilitation interventions that support individuals in returning to an active daily life.
My research contributes to improving rehabilitation pathways for people with mental illness or cancer, enhancing their functional ability and quality of life.
Profile
My research interests lie within rehabilitation, with a particular focus on people with mental illness and cancer. I am especially interested in exploring how rehabilitation can support individuals' participation in both everyday life and working life.
I originally trained as a nurse and later obtained a Master of Health Science (cand.scient.san.) and a PhD from Aarhus University.
I am Associate Professor at the Department of Public Health and Program Manager and Senior Researcher at DEFACTUM.
Cooperation and dissemination
I collaborate with both regional and municipal partners on rehabilitation. Regional partners include departments within social medicine, occupational medicine, oncology, and psychiatry, while I also work closely with municipal health and employment departments. The goal of this collaboration is to identify individuals in need of rehabilitation and ensure they receive better and more coherent rehabilitation pathways.
Teaching
My teaching philosophy focuses on creating an engaging learning environment where students actively participate in their own learning. I am the course coordinator for the rehabilitation course (10 ECTS) in the Bachelor's program in Public Health, where my goal is for students to gain both theoretical and practical insights into rehabilitation. Additionally, I supervise Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. students, serve as a censor for Public Health programs, evaluate Ph.D. theses, and supervise students during their internships.
Job responsibilities
In addition to my role as program manager, I am course coordinator for the rehabilitation course in Public Health Science.
I lead projects on late effects after pelvic cancer and functional ability in young people with schizophrenia.
I am also part of the SEVERIN coordination group, a co-founder of Rehabilitation and Mental Illness under the Danish Psychiatric Society, and a member of the research committee under the Danish Society for Public Health.
