In my PhD project, I examine ongoing reforms of the Chinese education system. In particular, I look into how an official Chinese policy of innovation and entrepreneurship education migrates into the educational settings at Chinese universities. Having conducted a year of ethnographic fieldwork, primarily at universities in Shanghai, I examine how Chinese students and academics enact the policy of innovation and entrepreneurship education in their daily lives. I am interested in questions like what motivates Chinese students to engage in entrepreneurship, and how does the Chinese Communist Party define the meaning of being entrepreneurial.
