Muhammad Rizwan Asif received his B.S. degree in electrical (telecommunication) engineering from COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) in 2013, and the M.S. and Ph.D. in information and communication engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2016 and 2019 respectively.

From September 2019 to August 2020, he worked as a postdoc with the Department of Engineering at Aarhus University, Denmark. The postdoc position was then moved to the Department of Geoscience from September 2020 to June 2023. From July 2023, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as an Assistant Professor on a tenure track basis. His current research interests include inter- and cross-disciplinary applications of image processing, computer vision and machine/deep learning to contribute to societal challenges. 

He is collaborating with the Hydrogeophysics Group (HGG) at the Department of Geoscience - Aarhus University, Geological Survey of Sweden, Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences (GNS) New Zealand, Jilin University - China,  etc.

He is also a reviewer for many international journals including IEEE  Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Computers & Geosciences, Geophysics, etc.
