Research
Michael Svarer is professor at the Department of Economics and Business Economics, Aarhus University. He holds an M.Sc. (1997) and a PhD (2001) from Aarhus University.
His primary research interests include labour economics, public economics, and family economics. Within these fields, he has published extensively in internationally recognized journals like Economic Journal, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Economic Perspective, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Human Resources, Scandinavian Journal of Economics, PNSA and others.
Michael Svarer is editor at Nationaløkonomisk Tidsskrift.
Commissioned
Michael Svarer is actively involved in policy advice in Denmark. He has served as chairman of the Danish Economic Council and the Expert group for a green tax reform, and has been a member of The Labour Market Commission, and several Covid-19 related expert groups. He is currently senior fellow at Kraka.
He is currently chair of the board for the Aarhus University Research Foundation, Investment, and depute chair of Aarhus University Research Foundation. He is chair of Aarhus Katedralskolen and member of the board at Lind Foundation and Danske Invest. He is also member of the board at ERPN and Grøn Dream.
